The building is the result of a competition held in 1937, and is covered with white marble of Candoglia which is the same materials used for the Duomo. It has been the last intervention of the renew of Piazza del Duomo. At the end of 2010 the renovations made by Italo Rota allows to use the Arengario as the Museum of XX century that collects the most important artist of this artistic period in Milan, including Boccioni, Balla, De Chirico and Fontana.

Built in 1958, is a manifesto of contemporary architecture. The Velasca Tower reflects the thoughts expressed by Rogers on the pages of Casabella, the idea of continuity of the architecture, the meaning of the character of a place, the renewal of the tradition through contemporary materials. Made of reinforced concrete it is 106 meters high, almost like the Duomo, with which it establishes a relationship through the structural elements of the facade.

The desire to create a real modern building convinced Luigi Moretti to deny the rules of nineteenth-century, both in shape and language. The orthogonal arrangement of the large volume overhanging the road, the facade design as a solid surface in which the traditional windows are replaced by free cuts, the full body that dominates and distorts the basement made by glass, are some of the new architectural codes operated by Moretti for a new style in architecture.

Designed in 1950, is a symbol of renewed Milanese style. The director Michelangelo Antonioni chose the building as part of the scenography in the movie « The Night », to express the modernity of Milan. White marble and Klinker cover the two volumes that compose the building, while the large strip windows, flush with the wall, show the essential character of this city.

This house built in 1947, replacing the one destroyed in the second world war in front of the Basilica di Sant’Ambrogio, is based on the idea of expressing a new character for the architecture of Milan interpreting his typological and linguistic features. The balcony-gallery, the loggia, the ceiling windows, the use of stone, plaster, steel and wood, are reassembled in an orderly architecture, renewing the tradition of building in a modern vision.

The building designed in 1947 by Ignazio Gardella ends, through two parallel snd straggered volumes, the large semicircle of the Foro Bonaparte looking for a new relationship with the Sempione Park. The first closed body, covered with marble and neatly composed, establishes a relationship with the compact city. The other body, that reveals his structural frame, allowed a freelier disposition of the shape of the appartments.

The 108-meter tower within the Sempione Park, as well as the height of the Duomo in Milan, was designed in 1933 as a panoramic point and still represents the most accessible sight to everybody in the city. Built as a light iron trellis, it expresses the elegance of the upward tension that characterized the architecture of the 1930s in Milan.

The Palace of Art, built during the fascism, was born to host the International exhibition of modern decorative and industrial arts and modern architecture. The building, which hosts nowaday « Triennale di Milano », is characterized by a style poised between classical architecture, dictatorial architecture and rationalism. The elegant marble staircase, the monumental entrance, the porch toward the Parco Sempione and the cylindrical and transparent volume of the spiral staircase are harmonized in a unique architecture. The use of bricks, like that of the nearby Castello Sforzesco, reinforces the symbolic and monumental value.
